Infrared Sauna

What is Infrared?

Infrared light is a natural part of the sun’s spectrum. It has the ability to penetrate human tissue through the use of heat. It provides significant health benefits and is the basis of all Sunlighten saunas. Infrared saunas offer a safe and all-natural experience. It is comparable to laying under the sun out on a beautiful, relaxing day. This treatment is actually better because there are no UVA/UVB rays to damage your skin.

Traditional heaters such as hot rock or steam saunas warm the air. Infrared saunas heat the body, making it a more gentle and pleasant experience. Infrared saunas operate at a lower temperature than traditional heaters. Thus there is less experience with shortness of breath or heat exhaustion. Infrared saunas are seven times more effective than traditional saunas. Infrared saunas produce sweat composed of 20% toxins versus only 3% in a traditional sauna.

An infrared sauna session will provide more wellness and healing to you. The Sunlighten Infrared Sauna has many benefits. These include lower blood pressure, weight loss, and reduction in pain and inflammation. Your sauna is completely private to give you a relaxing and intimate experience. Infrared saunas will heat your body, not the air. The temperature inside the sauna does not dictate the benefit or quality of your sauna session. Bear this in mind when seeing and experiencing the ambient temperature inside the sauna.

In their book Beyond Antibiotics, Drs. Michael A. Schmidt et al. state the following: “Saunas are being used by some doctors to stimulate the release of toxins from the bodies of their patients. They have found that a lower temperature (105-125 F) sauna taken for a longer duration is most beneficial. These low temperatures stimulate a fat sweat, which eliminates toxins stored in fat, as opposed to the high temperature sauna, which encourages a water sweat.”

Please follow your doctor’s instructions if they recommend using a lower temperature (which is still beneficial).

We book 30 to 40 minute sauna sessions depending on your program choice. We allow 10 minutes in our wellness room for a quick cleanse and change. Additional time spent in the room causes delays with arriving appointments and is subject to an additional cost of $2.50 per minute.

Please arrive on time or early! We try to accommodate as many of our clients as possible, so we book the rooms back to back with enough time in between to clean and get things ready for the next client. Because of this we ask that you arrive 5 minutes prior to your appointment start time and make sure you vacate the room when your booked time is up.

  • We do not recommend the sauna for pregnant women.
  • Please no unsupervised children under the age of 16.
  • Please lock the door behind you in the sauna room.
  • Please no shoes in the sauna.
  • Please do not eat in the sauna rooms.
  • Please do not bring outside beverages into the sauna rooms.
  • Please shut the glass door gently.
  • Please refrain from applying any oils or lotions to your skin prior to entering the sauna.
  • Please enjoy the filtered, anti-oxidant, and alkaline water we provide.

We provide each client with a bath towel and hand towel to sit on. An additional towel and chilled wash cloths are provided for a refreshing cleanse and drying off after your session.

Some like to wear their bathing suits or undergarments when in the sauna, however most go in with just the towels we provide.

We recommend bringing loose, comfortable clothing to change into after your session.

Sessions are non-refundable and are subject to our cancellation policy.

We have a 12-hour cancellation policy.  If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please do so 12 hours in advance of the appointment time.  A credit card is required to make a reservation.

Any appointments cancelled or changed within the 12-hour time will be lost and charged to your credit card. The cancellation policy applies to appointments booked within the 12-hour time, so please be mindful when making same day appointments.
